Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

During the summer term, we wrote to our school community to express our commitment as a school to working towards stamping out racism and embedding diversity into our whole school curriculum. Since this statement and during this term, our staff have been taking part in Anti-Racism training in order to develop our racial literacy and consider how and what we can do as a school to move forward with our commitment.

We have now appointed a ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead’, Laura Watkins.  Alongside parents, governors and staff, she is working with an organisation called Inclusion Labs to:

Embed diversity, equity and inclusion into every young person’s educational, cultural and personal development.

Take a 360-degree system wide approach so that every member of our school community is included in making our school a better place.

Take an intersectional approach to considering layered identities and backgrounds to ensure we see every student for the individual they are.

Create collective responsibility and collective action to make our school more inclusive and accessible.

Ensure our pupils have a voice and are at heart of what we do to improve diversity, equity and inclusion.

We would like to say an enormous thank you to the parents, governors and staff who have volunteered to be part of our working party – we could not do this without this support.

Below, you will find our initial statement of commitment.
