During the summer term, we wrote to our school community to express our commitment as a school to working towards stamping out racism and embedding diversity into our whole school curriculum. Since this statement and during this term, our staff have been taking part in Anti-Racism training in order to develop our racial literacy and consider how and what we can do as a school to move forward with our commitment. 

We have now appointed a ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead’, Laura Watkins.  Alongside parents, governors and staff, she is working with an organisation called Inclusion Labs to:

★ Embed diversity, equity and inclusion into every young person’s educational, cultural and personal development.

★ Take a 360-degree system wide approach so that every member of our school community is included in making our school a better place.

★ Take an intersectional approach to considering layered identities and backgrounds to ensure we see every student for the individual they are.

★ Create collective responsibility and collective action to make our school more inclusive and accessible.

★ Ensure our pupils have a voice and are at heart of what we do to improve diversity, equity and inclusion.
