Eco Action Team

We have an active and vocal Eco Action Team at each of our school sites.  The Eco Action Team is an enthusiastic and committed group of pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community. We have an action plan that is reviewed and updated annually through a rigorous audit and evaluation. We are particularly proud that our action plan is now part of the whole school development plan. In 2011 we achieved the Green Flag award for sustainable schools and maintained the standard when we were re-accredited in 2013 and 2015. We are currently applying to renew our Green Flag status.  We have built an allotment and have improved recycling throughout the school. Our most proud achievements have been the installation of solar panels and insulation of our roofs as this will mean reduction of our carbon footprint.

As a team we work closely with the Rights Respecting Steering Group to raise awareness of local, national and global goals for sustainability. We want to make our school a greener place to work and play, which meets Article 29: We all have the right to learn about how to protect the environment.  We enjoy helping everyone in the school to take responsibility for their environment, for example by carrying out Eco checks on classrooms and running competitions and campaigns such as ‘Plastic Fantastic?’ (see our Sustainability page below) to raise awareness and get people thinking.

Our Eco Reps

Some quotes from our Eco Action Team:

“I like inspiring others to help our school become more eco-friendly because that just makes one bit of the world a better place.” Elise, 6S (2018)

"I like being in the Eco Team because we show other people how to keep our school clean. And if we keep our school clean then maybe other people in our local area will keep our environment clean.” Michael, 4S (2018)

“I like being an Eco Rep because I just like helping and taking part. I’m kind, funny and responsible and I also represent my friends." Noe, 2G (2018)

"I like being an Eco Rep because I get to do lots of fun activities.” Toby, 2P (2018)
