Weekly Reading Café
At Henry Cavendish we value reading for pleasure and sharing stories with others. Discussing books and interacting with other people develops social and language skills, builds imagination and supports a lifelong joy of reading. Reading is not simply a system of decoding words or deciphering combinations of letters on the page, but an active skill in which children talk about their personal experience of a book.
Fact or fiction, in a book or online, reading for the joy of reading is an essential part of our English curriculum and through our weekly Reading Café session in the Early Years Foundation Stage we promote and support this important skill.
Parents and Carers are invited to come along every Friday morning from 8.55 to 9.15, to join their child in their classroom, snuggle into a cushion and spend some time sharing books and stories together.
